Devious Journal Entry

Fri Mar 27, 2009, 4:46 PM
Hmm, I rarely ever go on here anymore. I think that if DA comes up with a better uploading system then I might frequent this site more often. There are just way too many steps to upload a photo...& I have too many.

I guess just to change up my page...I'll add a new journal entry. I'm actually going to copy & paste from my other site. haha This is one of them "25 Things" that I filled out on: Monday, February 2, 2009 at 4:45pm according to the site.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was tagged by Oanh. I guess I am supposed to tag other people, but I won’t burden anyone. There are more important things to concern yourself with but if anyone has a free time…I would like to learn more about you.
Especially my sisters and the friends that we just watched the movie “Taken” with. ;] And Sally, because she’s a new friend.

1. I wish everyone would be patient with and appreciative of their mothers.

2. I wasn't who I pretended to be while growing up..."normal".

3. I was in special ed. p.e. in high school because of my heart and breathing problems. I participated in indoor beach volleyball, bowling, and various indoor games. hahaha That was my one chance to feel like a “jock”. I know…it’s messed up but also pathetic.

4. I have a sketchbook filled with scribblings of invention ideas.

5. I’ve either stood up for the underdogs or stood up to the "bullies" on a few occasions or more. I don’t keep track. I just do it when I sense injustice.

6. I sleep with a night light. When Darryl’s away, it’s not enough. I sleep with the lights on.
(Don’t worry…it’s energy-saving light bulbs.)

7. I think narcolepsy is funny, even if it may be tragic.

8. The term ménage à trois exist in my memory bank and is attached with an experience of a night of "relations" with a couple of gals.

9. I have always been obsessed with Victorian motifs.

10. I was in the car w/ my driving instructor on 9/11 (yes I had a late start) when the attack was announced over the Vietnamese BBC radio station. The instructor freaked out and started rocking back and forth in his seat while sitting on his hands. He asked me if I was scared because I was driving so calmly and when I answered "no", he started calling me crazy and flipped out on me. But the thing was I just didn't understand anything that was said on the radio! hahaha I really need to expand my Vietnamese vocabulary w/ Rosetta Stone. haha Oh, also I became depressed for a long time after I found out what was broadcasted over the radio. I was devastated about the ugly part of the world/life.

11. I’ve donated my time and/or money to humanitarian efforts.

12. I like to read about murder cases, unsolved crimes, cannibalism, serial killers, various paraphilias, Japanese bizarre fetishes, paranormal occurrences et cetera.

13. I was drawn to books about mediumship, ESP, near death experiences etc. since elementary school.

14. Among the various religions that I’ve explored, I’ve also dabbled in Wicca.

15. Every time I see a couple...any couple, I AUTOMATICALLY think about the two in sexual scenarios. Yes, every time I look at you…I’m violating you.

16. A couple of years ago, the connection on my Sony Vaio laptop became so loose I was no longer able to charge the computer to turn it on. I had to bring it into a computer repair shop and when he connected the ide adaptor to my hard drive and his to back-up all my files…

all my downloaded porn…

came up…

on the screen.

hahahaha Darryl laughed about this.

Advice: Either you download your x-rated vids to an external hard drive, have a separate laptop battery charger, have a software that constantly erases traces of your computer activities or just stream the vids.

17. I don't understand why something as natural as a nude body is offensive to some people. It makes me mad. I dislike prudes.

18. I think everyone should clean their tongue. I also think everyone should hop into the shower with soap and clean their bottoms and bits after a bowel movement. I am so big on this...I should start a club. Is there a club?

There’s no such club…I just googled.

19. I’ve never had a friend that I did everything with. It's kind of sad.

20. I am amused by the strange non-sensical dialogues that goes through my head as I fall asleep. Unfortunately, I can’t ever remember them after I wake up.

21. After watching the movie: 'Exorcism of Emily Rose", I was afraid to look at the clock if I happened to wake up in the middle of the night. The several times that I did glance at the time out of curiosity...it was always around 3 or 3:30 am. WTF??? Yep, if I had to go wee...I refused to go or ended up having dreams about urinating. haha

22. I believe I am a perfectionist with some degree of ADD. Which is why, it takes me awhile to get some things moving. It’s really sick...what I’ve been going through. Really...it's distressing and depressing. It’s a curse. I wish everyone could understand what it’s like.

23. I pride and guard my individuality. I also protect my self-respect. Making compromises with family, in a romantic relationship and friendship is easy. But my integrity and principles will not be simply compromised.

24. I am impatient with people who have the need to talk all the time or preach all the time. Why do you have the need to prove yourself? What are you making up for? I still believe the wise ones are the ones who quietly observes and listens.

25. Everything that I do in the kitchen is to keep my husband's mind, body and spirit balanced. I care for him as though he's my most favorite priceless treasure.

I have to cook dinner now.

"Regular or Passion?" She asked.

To the next person she asked, "Regular or Passion?" Again the response was: "Passion."
I listened to this dialogue repeat, with new players responding, as I waiting for my coffee at Java Jacks. The Regular is plain ice tea: the passion is passion fruit flavoured tea.

But the counter person never said "passion fruit." Always simply "passion." couldn't help but smile as the chose "regular or passion" was offered and each time the response came back: "passion." The reminder was loud and clear.

One of my favourite quotes comes from Antoine de Saaint- Exupery.
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood and don't assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea."

Skip the regular. Go for the passion.

My best, Phil

artist footnotes: I had the passion (not my regular coffee).

C, a lot of rain here in East Texas, coffee is warm and I am in my studio today.
Last night when I was turning out the lights and shutting down my studio, I glanced in the darkness in the direction of my easel and had an alarming thought. I realized that all over the world, all kinds of regular people might be doing something similar. Before going to bed they might be casting their eyes around their homes to see that everything was okay. Some of those eyes might catch for a moment on one of my paintings. There are a few out and about.

As I looked back into my studio, I realized that paintings ought to work in the almost-dark as well as in the full light of galleries or on home walls. Almost-dark is similar to what we do when we half-close our eyes. Areas of incongruity pop out, spindly and weak elements beg to be strengthened, woolliness is exposed as major-woolly. You notice funny things in the almost-dark--odd things, ghostly things, apparitions, things that look like something else. That evening I made a mental inventory of what needed to be dealt with in the morning.

I've been doing it ever since. For some reason I'm always able to remember my list. It kicks off the day. Sometimes the repairs are done before coffee. Of course there are other useful devices to shake the mind and see things anew. These include mirror viewing, taking outside (or inside), sideways glances, upside-down, through binoculars backwards, through a glass darkly, through a glass of scotch, though gels or colour filters, through screen-doors, scrims or lace curtains. Kahlil Gibran, speaking both practically and philosophically, said: "I have sharp and penetrating vision because I see through the mesh of a sieve."

All my best, Phil
